Casting a Silicone Part
If you want to cast silicone, people have been successful using aluminum molds, but this may be difficult and expensive to produce. Clay or silicone would also work. In any case, you would want to use a release agent such as ER800 to make sure that the silicone does not adhere to the surface.
One very important consideration in choosing the molding silicone and the casting silicone is whether to use tin or platinum cure silicones. As a general rule, tin-cure silicones can be poured (cast) into either platinum-cure silicone molds or into other tin-cure silicone molds. However, platinum cure silicones can ONLY be poured into other platinum cure molds, but NOT into tin-cure molds.
