Polishing Clear Castings

To restore a clear finish to the surface of a casting made from one of the Crystal Clear products the surface must be gradually sanded with increasingly finer grit grades of sandpaper.  Then finishing with a sanding gel.

Begin by sanding with a medium grit sandpaper (120 grit) until any prominent protrusions or grooves are removed.

Next use 220 grit sandpaper.

Use of a wet sandpaper (sandpaper made to be used with water).   It is recommended using above 220 grit.

After that, sand again with water and 400 grit sandpaper.  Then move up to a 800 grit with water.  After that there should not be any visible scratches on the surface, and it should appear translucent.

To Finish, polish with a sanding pad attached to a power drill (no faster than 1500rpm) using Nic San 10,000 grit Sanding Gel until the casting is perfectly clear.
